The Key to Thriving As An Introvert
Introverts are often misunderstood.
As an introvert, I have been called antisocial.
People don't seem to understand that the introverted battery can get drained very quickly.
Especially in extended social situations.
Being in social situations for too long leave me with little time to process.
This leads me to the key to thriving as an introvert...
The ability to process.
I feel that introverts need time to make sense of the world in their heads.
While making sense of the world, we still need income.
Especially given today's economy.
So, I would like to share 3 career options where introverts can thrive.
Let me list them down below.
3 Careers Where Introverts Can Thrive
TUTORING
I listed tutoring, not teaching for a reason.
While being a teacher is a wonderful profession, I think it's possible a drain for the introvert.
Interacting with a class full of students, all with different personalities, may weigh heavy on the psyche of an introvert.
There are administrative duties, meetings with other teachers, conferences with parents and more that may drive an introvert up the wall.
Tutoring, however is a bit different.
Tutoring is primarily one to one interaction with a student.
Introverts often thrive in one on one situations.
Introverts can share their expertise with a student and create impact through a concentrated, focused relationship.
I was a tutor for years at a small community college in my area.
It brought me so much fulfillment to share my math knowledge and to help others succeed.
SERVICE BASED BUSINESS
A business can be a daunting thing for anyone, no less an introvert.
But, I think that a service based business will allow an introvert to shine.
For example, if you are a plumber, carpenter, graphic designer, copywriter, or fill in the blank, you can have a certain level of freedom as a freelancer.
Of course, you will have to connect with others socially.
You will have to market your business and network to get clients.
But, as a freelancer, you can control the amount of interaction.
You can control your schedule, to a certain degree.
It is a great option to consider, especially if you have formal training, experience, or formal training in a particular field.
CONTENT CREATOR/INFLUENCER
I know that this is the buzzword of our society as of late.
It seems that everyone wants to sit on a beach and vlog about the beautiful sunshine that is behind them.
I'm not just talking about being superficial and cringe.
If you are passionate about a topic or area, you can create content in that area.
I consider myself a content creator.
I have other channels where I create content about my faith, Bible knowledge, and my nerdy interests.
I think it is great to have a creative outlet to not only share your passion, but to make an impact on people.
Introverts can serve others by creating communities and use creativity to make the world better.
If you are a nutritionist, you can serve others by sharing information about foods that burn fat.
As a life coach, you can help someone get through grief or a divorce through a video series.
I recommend content creation, mainly because it is a creative outlet that can help to make the introvert more well rounded.
One great thing about content creation is that it is not a "one size fits all" kind of thing.
Even introverts can create blogs, Tik Tok reels, and YouTube shorts to share helpful knowledge with others.
CONCLUSION
This is NOT a comprehensive list of options in which introverts can thrive.
But I do think that these options provide good starting points.
I hope these 3 options can help you out.
It IS possible to create income and impact.
That is what I strive for.
I hope it is what you strive for as well.
Thank you for reading this blog post and God bless.
